NYMTC Draft Revised Public Involvement Plan, Comment period April 30, 2012 – June 13, 2012

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) announces a 45-day public comment period to review its draft revised Public Involvement Plan (PIP).  The draft revised plan updates NYMTC’s current PIP, originally adopted in June 2007, as part of an ongoing effort to improve public outreach and involvement activities. Originally adopted to comply with Safe, Accountable, Flexible and Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU), it is being revised in accordance with federal requirements. In addition, this public review period will include revisions to NYMTC’s Operating Procedures for Public Participation, which will also be incorporated into the PIP.

The comment period will begin on Monday, April 30, 2012 and end at 4PM on Wednesday, June 13, 2012.  NYMTC’s members will vote to adopt the revised Public Involvement Plan at the next Council meeting, scheduled to be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 10AM in the Auditorium of the U.S. Custom House, One Bowling Green, New York.
A copy of NYMTC’s revised draft Public Involvement Plan will be available at the start of the comment period on NYMTC’s website at http://www.nymtc.org/files/NYMTC_Draft_PIP_April2012/2012draftPIP.pdf.  Hard copies will be available upon request.

In addition, two public review meetings will be held on Tuesday, May 22nd at 3PM* and 6:30PM**to gather additional public input and respond to questions.   The meetings will be held in NYMTC’s offices at 199 Water Street, 22nd Floor, NYC.  Translation services will be available if requested three or more days in advance.
