PCAC Statement – August 10, 2021 – Meeting the Ongoing Needs of the Region’s Riders and the MTA

“The region’s riders – and our regional economy – depend on a strong and functional transit system. The MTA is coming back from an incredibly difficult year and faces many challenges, including getting riders back on board, ensuring there is sufficient service, and continuing the robust capital program. Fortunately, there is strong leadership in place with Janno Lieber, Craig Cipriano, Phil Eng, Cathy Rinaldi and Patrick Warren to continue the critical work that lies ahead.  We look forward to the implementation of congestion pricing, completion of East Side Access and the Third Track, construction of Penn Station Access and the second phase of the Second Avenue Subway and ongoing accessibility improvements throughout the system. Despite what’s happening in Albany, riders should feel assured that the MTA will stay on track to get them where they need to go. We look forward to working with incoming Governor Kathy Hochul to continue the MTA ‘s comeback.”
