NYCTRC Testimony – October 23, 2017 – City Funding of Transit

Testimony of the NYCTRC
to the MTA Board on the City Contributing Financially to
NYCT’s Subway Action Pan
Board Room, MTA Headquarters, 2 Broadway, New York, NY

October 23rd, 2017

Good morning, my name is Ellyn Shannon I am with the Permanent Citizens Advisory Committee to the MTA. On behalf of the New York City Transit Rider’s Council.

I am here today to speak to Mayor DeBlasio, because it is time to put petty boundary lines aside and act in the best interest of New York City residents and businesses. We believe the City needs to be more affordable. However affordability is not just about Housing it is very much about Transportation, and getting to jobs on time and getting home to our families on time.

And it is now up to you to pay in our half of the Subway Action Plan, because the Subway and bus system is the life blood of New Yorkers.

Mayor Deblasio, please put your transportation priority list together, so we can see that you understand the role the subway plays in this City and its value.

We at the New York City Transit Riders Council know that the success of the Subway Action Plan currently rests on your shoulders. We would like to see you rise to the occasion and commit the City’s share to the plan.
