The New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) announces a public comment period for proposed amendments to the Federal Fiscal Years 2011-2015 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).  The public comment period will begin on Thursday, June 14, 2012 and end on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 4PM.  The actions contained in the proposed amendments include:

Addition of thirteen (13) projects:PIN TBD – Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing Project, Multi-County
0T2492 – Wolf Hill Road Pedestrian Safety Improvements, Huntington, Suffolk County
8TM020 – Building “T” Capital Improvements/Fueling Station. Rockland County
8TM021 – Building “T” Security System Capital Improvements Project. Rockland County
8TM022 – Fuel Reimbursement for Transport of Rockland (TOR) Bus Service, Rockland County
8TM023 – Public Transportation Support Equipment, Rockland County
8TM024 – Purchase of ADA Compliant Gasoline Vehicles/Vans for Trips Bus Service, Rockland County
8TM025 – Maintenance & Supervisory Replacement Vehicles for Bee-Line System. Westchester County
SF08-7351 – Replace Bus Washers Equipment at Four Depots, Brooklyn and Staten Island
X50135 – Soundview Connection Greenway, Bronx
X76027 – Rehabilitate Ferry Piers at the Governors Island Maritime Facility, Manhattan
X76713 – Pedestrian Access Improvements at Arverne East Transit Plaza, Queens
X77266 – Downtown Flushing Traffic & Pedestrian Improvements, Queens

Deletion of  two (2) projects

856116 – Route 35/202 Reconstruction from Peekskill to the Taconic State Parkway, Westchester County
875480 – Kimball & McLean Signals, Westchester County

Deferral of  seven (7) projects

004197 – NY25 Reconstruction: CR83 to Coram-Mt. Sinai Road, Suffolk County
001620 – NY112 Reconstruction: I495 to Granny Road, Suffolk County
005409 – NY347 Reconstruction: Hallock Road to CR97, Suffolk County005412 – NY347 Reconstruction: NY347 over NY97 Interchange, Suffolk County005420 – NY347 Reconstruction: NY 111 to Mt. Pleasant Road, Suffolk County810322 – Route 9A: Route 119 Executive Boulevard, Westchester County
875902 – Webster Avenue Traffic Signals, Westchester County

These actions are being taken as the final step in updating for the 2011-2015 TIP to be fiscally constrained within the new federal funding targets.  An additional proposed amendment is to add the Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing Project to the TIP.  Details of the proposed changes will be available beginning June 14th on http://www.nymtc.org or on our temporary alternate site www.tinyurl.com/NYMTC.

Background:
The New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) is a regional council of governments and transportation providers that serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for New York City, Long Island and the lower Hudson Valley.  In order to be more responsive to transportation planning needs at the local level, NYMTC is comprised of three Transportation Coordinating Committees (TCCs).  The Mid-Hudson South TCC covers Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties; the Nassau/Suffolk TCC covers Nassau and Suffolk counties; and the New York City TCC covers the five boroughs of New York City.
